A trip to the Hickory Stick for quilting fabrics, patterns, and                           notions includes some history as well. The Hickory Stick is                            located across from  Mark Twain's boyhood home in three                                   pre-Civil War buildings a block from the Mississippi River.                           The shop has survived several floods, but is now protected by                    a floodwall. So the only stream you're likely to get caught in                               now is one formed by serious quilt makers who for  over 30                               years have headed here for supplies, advice, and inspiration.
